Do you remember Lucid Launcher? We featured this indie launcher a few weeks ago right here on the XDA Portal. XDA Senior Member powerpoint45 made a video series detailing its creation. And then on Valentine’s Day, the developer decided to update the application and add some love in the form of a few new features. The application also changed its status from alpha to beta, so it should be considerably more stable.

Not too long ago, Google Now and Google Keep both acquired the ability to set location-based reminders. This is a great feature, as a reminder can only ever be as useful as its predefined triggers. One major issue with the two aforementioned apps, however, is their requirement for relatively new versions of Android (4.0 or greater). Since a sizeable chunk of the Android pie (32%) is made up of Android 2.x users, there has to be a more inclusive solution.

It looks like Google isn’t done adding goodies to the latest round of updates for the official Search app. The hotword for activating the voice search function is now “Ok Google,” and it also works while looking at results, not just from the standard search screen. You’ll need Search 2.8.7 (grab the APK here if you don’t have it yet) and an updated English (US)language pack to see the new functionality.
